“When she started doing art therapy we thought it was amazing, but we’re her parents so we think everything she does is amazing,” said Peter-Jon Halmshaw, Iris Grace Halmshaw’s father.
Peter’s 3-year-old autistic daughter creates such otherworldy works of watercolor art with her paintbrushes that some people are calling her the next Monet.
The young girl who lives in Market Harborough, England, does not speak. When her parents first gave her brushes and paints, hoping to connect her with others, they were surprised by the results. As people began commenting on Iris’s work, they were prompted to set up a website to showcase her skills.
Today, her impressionistic paintings are selling for up to $1,300. Her first painting was sold at a charity auction.
All profits from sales go towards art materials and paying her private therapists.
