It’s fair to say Chris Brown has seen his fair share of controversy during his rise to stardom, and things could be about to get much worse for him following a rather disturbing allegation recently made against him.
Model Baylee Curran has accused the singer of threatening her with a gun, and he has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a stand-off with police at his home yesterday. He has since been released on bail of a reported $250,000, according to Associated Press, though his lawyer took to social media to brand the accusations “demonstrably false”.
Ms. Curran told the LA Times that the shocking event took place while she was attending a business meeting at Brown’s mansion on Monday night. According to her side of the story, things turned sour when she took an interest in another man’s expensive jewellery. She said that Brown then pointed a gun at her face and demanded she leave.
She did so, but then called the police during the early hours of Tuesday morning, who then went to the singer’s home but he refused to let them in. Instead, he posted a series of videos to his Instagram, accusing police of harrassment and demanding they wait for a warrant. In one he states: “When you get the warrant for whatever you need to do, you’re going to walk right up in here and you’re going to see nothing, you idiots.”
In another Instagram post the singer declared his support for the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality, saying: “You’re all the worst gang in the world, the police.”
Eventually the singer emerged from his home after the arrival of his lawyer. They then searched the property and spoke to a number of people who will also be questioned about the accusation. Meanwhile Curran took to her social media in defence of her having called police after being attacked online by the singer’s fans. She said in one Instagram post “If somebody put a gun to your head, what would you do? Call the police…”
Brown has been convicted of assault several times, including his high-profile arrest in 2009 after he violently attacked then-girlfriend Rihanna. He stated that he had considered suicide after the assault during an interview earlier this year.
