Gigi Hadid Attacked On Twitter After ‘Racist’ Melania Trump Impression At American Music Awards

American model Gigi Hadid was savaged on social media last night after her impression of Melania Trump shocked and upset viewers of the American Music Awards.

Mocking Melania Trump’s speech, in which she is said to have plagiarised Michelle Obama, the 21-year-old model imitated the First Lady-to-be’s pout and Eastern European accent.

‘I’d like to thank my husband, President Barak Obama, and our children Sasha and Malia’, joked Hadid after Melania was hit with criticism for ripping off a speech Michelle Obama gave earlier this year at the RNC.

Not only was her impression painfully received by the audience, who awkwardly laughed through it, an on-going rant exploded on Twitter as viewers at home took to social media, criticizing Hadid as being ‘racist’, while some went as far as advising her to ‘stick to modelling’.

Some might ask how Gigi could impersonate Melania without the accent. Would it be an accurate impression without it? The irony of it all is that Gigi has previously stood up against criticism regarding her weight and whether she is considered fit to work as a runway model. Mocking a woman she nothing to do with, has probably never met and most likely will never meet might sound hypocritical, or is the world just too PC these days?

Both Donald Trump and his wife are yet to respond to the sketch and judging by how vocal Trump usually is on Twitter, you might just get a reaction from him soon.

In other AMA news, Lady Gaga gave an epic performance of her new Country material and Selena Gomez touched the hearts of the nation with her honest acceptance speech for Artist of the Year.
