What if you went to the doctor thinking you had a hernia… only to find out that you were pregnant and having contractions?
According to MLive, on February 8 Michigan woman Linda Ackley went to the hospital because of bloating in her abdomen, only to discover she was having a baby!
At first, doctors assumed Ackley had three to four weeks to go, but after performing a second ultrasound, it was confirmed that she was full term. The hospital immediately scheduled a C-section and delivered a healthy 10-pound, 1-ounce baby girl, Kimberly Kay Ackley.
You may be wondering how this is even possible – we were, too.
Linda and Mike Ackley, married 24 years, previously were unable to conceive and were having sex without protection.
But back in February 2011, 44-year-old Linda was diagnosed with flesh-eating bacteria in her abdomen and had to be put into a medically-induced coma. Luckily, she did not need any of her limbs amputated (as most people do in these cases); instead, she only had some of her infected stomach muscles removed.
Linda explained to the Jackson Citizen Patriot that she thought the strange feeling in her belly was simply contracting muscles and nerves due to her surgery. Likewise, Linda always had irregular periods, so she didn't think anything of it, and she apparently didn't gain any significant weight from carrying little Kimberly Kay.

"I was happy and shocked at the same time, and scared," Mike Ackley said. "I wish someone would have taken a picture of my face. Some people have nine months to prepare. I had (15) hours."

Same thing happened to my great grandmother, who gave birth a total of 14 children. She didn’t know the last one was coming until he got here. And to boot, she was pregnant at the same time her daughter (my grandmother) was pregnant with my mother, making my mother and her uncle the same age. My grandmother said every time she looked up she had a new sibling. Ain’t that something.
