We’ve seen our share of ridiculous and questionable items being sold over Facebook, but nothing as outrageous as this.
A 22-year-old Oklahoma woman named Misty VanHorn reportedly needed some quick cash to bail her boyfriend out of jail, so she took to Facebook to generate the funds. She didn’t ask friends to pitch in, or put up old clothes or electronics she no longer needed for sale. No, she decided to offer up her children instead.
The going price was $1,000 for her 10-month-old daughter and $4,000 for a package deal that included her 2-year-old son.
As if that isn’t bad enough, someone actually took the offer. VanHorn sent an interested buyer who lives in Fort Smith, Ark the following message: “Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000.”
Fortunately, the state’s department of human services stepped in and alerted the police. According to the Daily Dot, VanHorn is currently being held on a $40,000 bond and the children are in custody.
So what’s the moral of the story? When it comes to selling your things on Facebook, inanimate objects are fair game but your children are NOT for sale.
