Rapper’s Instagram Photos Lead to Largest Gun Bust in NYC History

Earlier this week, the NYPD and Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the largest gun bust in New York City history.

Up-and-coming rapper Matthew Best, better known as Neno Best, was caught red-handed after posting pictures of stacks of cash and illegally smuggled assault weapons on his Instagram account.

Police seized 254 firearms and arrested nineteen people in a 552-count indictment and Best was charged with one count of conspiracy for selling guns out of his Ocean Hill recording studio.

During a 10-month investigation involving the little-known Brooklyn rapper, police found out the guns were smuggled from Walter Walker of Sanford North Carolina, and Earl Campbell of Rock Hill, South Carolina, in the luggage of several Chinatown-based discount buses.

Investigators also stumbled upon his YouTube and Instagram accounts only to find him bragging about his unlawful business with his friend Omole Adedji.

According to the New York Post, the weapons were displayed proudly on tables draped in blue tablecloths during a press conference held by Mayor Bloomberg. Police noted that 36 of the guns had previously been reported stolen.
