SEE: The Moment Aid Worker Rescues 2-Year-Old Accused of Being a Witch

This is the tragic moment a volunteer aid worker finds a starved, thirsty and filthy 2-year-old boy who was abandoned by his family who believe he’s a witch.

The boy who was found sickly was riddled with worms after living off scraps thrown at him by passersby for over eight months! He was finally rescued by Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Loven.313B856600000578-3447812-Ms_Loven_fed_Hope_and_gave_him_water_before_wrapping_him_up_in_a-m-78_1455551693534

Ms Loven, who renamed the little boy Hope, is the founder of African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation, an organization she created three years ago to help children that have been labelled as witches. These children are always neglected and sometimes even killed by the members of their community. You’d be shocked to know how common the accusation is.

“Thousands of children are being accused of being witches and we’ve both seen torture of children, dead children and frightened children,” Loven wrote on Facebook. She’s been using social media to gather donations to help pay for Hope’s medical bills.

Hope is slowly rehabilitating. At the hospital he was de-wormed and got daily blood transfusions to incorporate more red blood cells into his body.

“Hope’s condition is stable now. He’s taking food for himself and he responds to the medicine he gets. Today, he has had powers to sit up and smiling at us. He’s a strong little boy,” Loven said. One day, she added, she hopes that Hope will even play with her own son.
