If you think you don’t get paid enough for the work that you do, consider how our nation’s leaders feel. With all the pressure and scrutiny they face every day, you would think politicians make a ridiculous amount of money for their work running the country. While the prez and other government officials do certainly make a very comfortable living, their paychecks are modest compared to Jersey Shore’s JWoww and other TV reality stars who don’t do much other than drink booze and pose for pictures. Oh, to live the life!
Exactly how much more bank do reality stars make than the men and women in office? CareerBuilder broke it all down. Prepare to be surprised.
President Barack Obama vs. The Jersey Shore cast: The president makes $400,000 a year, including a $50,000 expense allowance. In comparison reality TV stars Snooki, Mike “The Situation” and the entire cast of Jersey Shore is reported to make $100,000 for each episode filmed. Since a season is about 13 episode, that equates to a cool $1,000,000! That’s quite a big difference.
Vice president Joe Biden vs. Host of The Bachelor: This year our Vice President made $230,700 in earnings. Host of dating show The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Chris Harrison trumps the V.P. with a reported $60,000 per episode paycheck. With 12 episodes a season, that adds up to a very pretty $720,000.
Speaker of the House vs. The Kardashians: Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, reportedly earns an annual salary of $223,500 for his job as the current speaker of the House. That must sound like chump change for reality star Kim Kardashian who pockets $40,000 per episode for Keeping Up with the Kardashians. This year’s season featured 18 episodes of the show. Add in all the money she makes for different endorsement deals and appearances and you’ve got yourself a very healthy bank account.
