Next month we will see two mega-stars gracing the covers of two big-name fashion magazines, in one very similar way. Gwen Stefani will appear in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar and Lady Gaga will lend herself to Vogue’s September issue.
Both stars have big project releases in the works: Gaga’s first signature perfume, Fame, will hit store shelves the same month as the magazine issue, whereas Stefani’s new No Doubt album, Push and Shove, will drop at the same time as well. With so much going on for the starlets, it makes sense they’re both out promoting their brands: The girls have to hustle!
But it seems that the creative teams at the two magazines had very similar ideas for the singers. Both feature the blonde bombshells sporting some over-the-top, in-your-face, loud-and-large, fashion pieces. And we’re sure the ladies wouldn’t have it any other way.
The cover of the Vogue issue- which, by the way, is in celebration of the magazine’s 120th anniversary- shows Mother Monster wearing a long off-the-shoulder purple gown, cinched at the knees. In one of the inside shots, the singer is pictured wearing nothing but an oversized, furs and feather magenta hat, designed by Stephen Jones. It may not be a meat hat, but it’s still very Gaga worthy.
The No Doubt singer also had a hat day for her shoot. The mother of two looked amazing in the Harper‘s issue, for which photographer Terry Richardson shot her wearing an oversized pink rose-shaped Alexis Mabille Couture hat. The color is lighter than Gaga’s but it’s equally awe-inspiring. Both these hats would give the Kentucky Derby attendees a run for their money.
Stefani is also featured in colors that venture away from the pinks and purples. The singer is seen wearing a super daring black Vera Wang bride gown, which in case you’re wondering, goes for a pretty $7,900.
So we’ve got two huge starlets, with two huge careers, on two huge fashion magazines. The big question: Who did it better? Oh, you know we had to ask.
Be the judge and cast your vote below. Is your pick Mother Monster’s fashion Vogue look or are you more into Gwen’s Harper’s look?
