It’s no coincidence that Avril Lavigne’s new video looks awfully familiar.
The singer first burst on to the scene more than a decade ago as a rebellious, skateboard-riding, necktie and tank top wearing tomboy with a knack for causing trouble. Sounds pretty standard for a 17-year-old.
Now at 28 years of age the singer is trying to capture that same spirit in her latest song, “Here’s to Never Growing Up.” In the newly-released video she parades around a high school with a bunch of rowdy students while sporting the same necktie, tank top, baggy black shorts look and riding a skateboard.
We’re not sure how to feel about this. We get her point is to reclaim that zest that initially won her fans over, but those fans have in fact grown up since then and her “forever young” anthem may not resonate.
