In light of the not so new dance called “Twerking”, and the recent suspension of 33 high school students in San Diego after videoing themselves Twerking, this butt-shaking craze has many people asking what the heck is it?
Wikipedia defines twerking as, “A dance move that involves a person shaking their hips and bottom in a bouncy up and down motion causing it to shake, wobble, and jiggle.”
Many think the movement came out of a 1933 DJ Jubilee song called “Do The Jubilee All”, in it he repeated the phrases “twerk baby, twerk baby, twerk, twerk, twerk,” and so the story goes, the dance form was born.
We found a video that teaches you the dance–step by step. It’s not easy, but it’s super-fun and a really great workout.
