Woman Carjacked at Gunpoint On First Date

The awkward silences. The nervousness in finding something to talk about or the need to impress. Ah, the oh so familiar feelings of going on  first date.

We’ve all gone on dates that left us with a bad first impression of someone. This probably has to do with the fact that many people out there don’t have a clue on proper dating etiquette, which typically leads to first-date bombs.

For example, Donald Bernard McGee, 19, ended up carjacking his date at gunpoint in a Wendy’s parking lot in Florida on Friday night.

What started out as a simple date, with a nice stroll on the beach, ended with a police chase. According to what the Boynton Beach Police Department told the Sun Sentinel, McGee asked the Lake Worth woman out after the two of them exchanged a few text messages and photos. When the date ended, the woman drove him to a Wendy’s parking lot so they could wait for McGee’s brother to pick him up.

Unfortunately, that’s not what happened.

The  chivalrous man then pulled out a .380-caliber Kel Tec handgun and forced the woman out of her car. The arrest report states that she then ran to a nearby gas station and flagged down a Good Samaritan to call 911.

Police were able to catch up to the Honda Civic and McGee got a taste of his own medicine, as he was arrested at gunpoint by a K-9 officer. After being put in cuffs, the thief tried telling police that the woman was trying to carjack him and that’s why he fled.

He was booked into Palm Beach County Jail on Saturday and faces charges of marijuana possession, fleeing police, driving without a valid license, robbery with a firearm, and carjacking with a firearm. His bail is currently set at $15,000.
