It appears that some celebrities are so┬ádamn good at sprucing up their image that we totally that they committed any crimes. For many of them, they went on to become even more famous than they were before getting arrested, while others’ careers fizzled out.

The celebs featured above may be praised for their talents or good looks, but they’ve done some dirty deeds in the past.

From drug possession to attempted murder, these are 11 awful crimes committed by famous celebrities.

Matthew McConaughey
In 1999, cops found him dancing naked and playing bongo drugs in his home. They also discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Will Smith
In 1989, he was allegedly involved in a brutal brawl that left a man nearly blind. The charges were later dismissed.

Mark Wahlberg
As a teenager, he was charged with attempted murder when he assaulted two men. He ended up pleading guilty to assault and served 45 days of a two year jail sentence.

Winona Ryder
In 2001, she was caught shoplifting around $5,000 worth of clothes from Saks Fifth Avenue. She claimed she was doing research for a movie role.

The Grammy-winning rapper was charged with third-degree assault after stabbing record producer Lance “Un” Rivera at a nightclub in 1999.

Mike Tyson
The infamous boxer was arrested in 1991 for the rape of an 18-year-old girl. He served three years in prison.

R. Kelly
He was accused of having sex and urinating on an underage girl.

Hugh Grant
The actor and film producer was caught having sex with a prostitute in public.

Lil’ Kim
In 2005, she lied to a grand jury about her friend’s whereabouts during a murder case.

Kobe Bryant
In 2003, the basketball star was accused of sexual assuault by a 19-year-old hotel employee. He later admitted to having sex with her but thought it was consensual.

Ozzy Osbourne
After drunkenly urinating on a cenotaph, which honored those who died at the Alamo in Texas, he was arrested and later banned from the city of San Antonio for 10 years.
