It was the morning after Christmas in 1996 when six-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey’s lifeless body was discovered in the basement of her family home. She had been brutally murdered.
Initially, the Boulder police treated the Ramseys, especially the father, as suspects. And it would take 12 years after her death for the district attorney’s office to completely clear the couple of any wrongdoing.
To this day, the case remains unsolved.
Recently, Barbara Walters sat down with JonBenet’s father, John, as part of a new show on Investigation Discovery, Barbara Walters Presents American Scandals. Patsy, JonBenet’s mother, is not present, as she passed away from cancer in 2006.
In the interview, John explains that the only way his daughter’s murder will ever be solved is if a DNA match is finally made, or if someone who actually knows what happened decides to come forward with new information.
He also mentions a lead that police may have overlooked; how to attempted to protect his son from seeing all the headlines accusing him of killing his sister; and how JonBenet’s murder affected the family.
