4 Ways to Depuff Under Eye Circles

Every woman has experienced it-waking up to the dreaded under eye puffiness. It can be caused by many things: allergies, PMS, sodium intake, lack of sleep, etc.

Luckily, the cure is just as easy and many can be found in your kitchen. Try one of the tips below and you’ll be saying “sayonara!” to those bags by the time you leave the house.

Many women wake up with puffy eyes as a symptom of hay fever. An antihistamine can prevent the allergic reaction from developing before you wake up. Take two Benadryl before bed (it will make you sleepy-added bonus!) and be sure to sleep with a few pillows propping you up. Sleeping flat on your back is a surefire way to wake up with major under eye baggage!

It’s Friday night and you hit the club with your posse and had a few too many margaritas. Calorie count aside, those things are sodium bombs! Not only will your eyes be puffy the next morning, your whole body will feel a little spongy. To prevent the morning after “sponge” effect, limit yourself to one margarita and for every sip you take, take two swallows of water to counteract the sodium. The more water you intake, the more sodium your body will release through your urine. You’ll be much less likely to wake up with a case of the puffs.

Believe it or not, there are many items in your kitchen that will flatten your under eye bags in no time. Cold cucumbers are not just for the spa-they actually do counteract the inflammation and de-puff your under eyes. No cucumbers at your disposal? No problem. Try soaking some black or green tea bags in cold water, then lie them on your eyes for 10-15 minutes. And, if tea isn’t your thing either, try a spoon. (Everyone owns one of those, right?) Dip two teaspoons in ice water for a few minutes, then use the underside of them and press under your eyes for 10 minutes. Then remove the spoons-ta da!

If you’re a cosmetic junkie, there are just some products you must have at your disposal at all times. One of them is Origins “No Puffery” cooling mask for under eyes. I keep mine in my refrigerator so it stays nice and cold. Suitable for all skin types, just swipe a small amount under each eye and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water and you’ll feel like you again!

Another product to try is Garnier’s “Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller.” This product actually treats and conceals your under eyes in one step. Caffeine de-puffs and Lemon Essence brightens dark circles. Suitable for all skin types it lets you skip a step in your beauty routine, hooray!
