Cindy Reutzel made the decision to carry her daughter’s child after finding out that she would not be able to conceive.
Reutzel’s daughter, Emily Jordan, found out that she had cervical cancer at the young age of 29. Just before she was to have a radical hysterectomy, she and her husband, Mike, found out that she was pregnant. They made the decision to go forward with the surgery, which meant losing their baby and being unable to have kids of their own.
Upon hearing the news, Reutzel decided to give her daughter the best gift. The gift of life.
She said she would act as a surrogate and carry Emily’s unborn child in her body.
When the couple heard of her idea, they didn’t think it could be done. However, for Reutzel, a healthy and fairly young grandmother, that wasn’t the case.
According to Daily Mail, Jordan said,
“This is a continuation of everything that she has done her entire life for me, which is to make sure that I have the best life possible.”
Elle Cynthia Jordan was born healthy a few days after Jordan’s 32nd birthday.
Reutzel recovered and even said she would not be opposed to doing it, again. She knows the life she gave to her daughter was a gift but she feels she is also getting more in return.
“When I watch both of them hold that baby and look into her face, it’s like everything I could have imagined wanting for them – better than I could have imagined. This is what it was all about for me.”
This is truly the heart of a mother in its purest form.
