A 65-year-old woman who gave birth to quadruplets three months ago is excited to be reunited with her babies. They were born highly premature and have been successfully nursed to solid health.
Annegret Raunigk’s pregnancy has sparked major controversy in Germany, as many people don’t agree with the way she got pregnant or the fact that she now has 17 children.
She was able to get pregnant, thanks to the help of a Ukrainian fertility treatment that utilizes anonymous sperm and egg donors. At the time of their birth the three boys and girl weighed between 1.4 and 2.1 pounds each.
German TV station RTL shared video footage of Neeta, Dries, Bence and Fijon before they left for home.
According to Raunigk’s doctors, her case was extremely high risk. Once the babies entered thew world, one needed help with breathing and two needed emergency surgeries.
They are all healthy and thriving now. Her doctors expect them to be without complications in the years to come.
