Have you ever imagined what it would look like if millions of fresh flower petals rained down like confetti during a celebration onto your hometown?
Well, now you don’t have to, because you can check out a few images of a Costa Rican village that was able to experience the beauty of this magical moment for themselves.
As part of SONY’s new advertising campaign for its 4K Ultra HD televisions sets, local villagers spent 14 days picking and sorting 8,000,000 flower petals (as this is the number of pixels on each screen) for the commercial. Then, explosives were rigged beneath the massive heap (weighing 3.5 tons) of petals and detonated.
What happens next is nothing short of extraordinary, as the sky turns into a dazzling array of color and an entire village is showered with petals.
This spectacular act was meant to showcase how SONY’s new technology is capable of capturing contrast, movement and color in magnificent detail.
Photographer Nick Meek was on location to document the entire sequence as it unfolded.
The only thing that would make this beautiful moment in time any better, would be if this event weren’t part of any commercial or advertising scheme, but instead was simply part of an art installation or movement to spread awareness about some environmental issue.
