Congratulations go out to Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth on the birth of their first child, Tennessee James Toth.
This is the actress’s third child (she has a 13-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son with ex-husband Ryan Philippe) and her first with her husband 19 months, Jim Toth.
No other details were given besides the baby’s name and the fact he was born earlier today. A statement from Witherspoon’s rep says, “Both mom and baby are healthy and the entire family is thrilled.”
36-year-old Witherspoon has been anxious to expand her brood since tying the knot in March of 2011. She was brought to the hospital in late August with reports saying she was in early labor, but managed to continue her pregnancy and carry her baby boy to full term.
The baby boy’s name, Tennessee, is a nod to the actress’s home state where she grew up and has many fond memories of.
When Witherspoon put her Ojai, California home on the market earlier this month (the same place she got married to Toth) she said she loved the home because it brought back good memories of her of her youth and how she wanted for her children to have the same upbringing.
“It reminds me of growing up in Tennessee, where we spent all day outside,” she told People magazine. “I wanted my children to have that experience, to get muddy and hang out with the animals. … It’s like having a little bit of Tennessee in California.”
And now, the actress has Tennessee in California. Congrats goes out to the whole family!
