When this six-month-old baby koala’s mother was struck by a car in Brisbane, Australia, he wouldn’t leave her side.
The joey, named Phantom, and his mom Lizzy were taken to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, were she received treatment for her injuries, which included a collapsed lung.
In the photos featured above, you can see that little Phantom never left her side, even during surgery he clung on tight.
Since the procedure, Lizzy is on her way to making a full recovery, and her baby couldn’t be happier.
The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital was founded by the late Steve Irwin and his wife Teri. Interested in making donations to help preserve wildlife and wild places? You can do so here.
