A man suspected of stealing a car made the bad choice to flee the scene on a skateboard, after a police pursuit caused him to rear-end another driver with the stolen vehicle. The incident took place in Van Nuys, California.
The man was wanted for allegedly stealing a BMW and lead police on a chase through the surrounding area, with speeds reaching up to 90 mph according to an ABC 7 report. The car chase came to an abrupt halt, but that didn’t stop the suspect—whose name has not yet been released. He hopped out of the car and tried to escape on a skateboard.
Unfortunately for the alleged thief, a good Samaritan in a pickup truck acted on instinct and used the vehicle to trap the suspect on the sidewalk. The man was immediately arrested.
The man in the pickup, Lou Pizarro, said that he didn’t think twice about trying to stop the man attempting to run from police.
“It was just instinct just to block the guy off, and slow him down a little bit,” Pizarro told KCBS news reporters.
While it is understandable that maybe the suspect panicked in the moment, did he really think he was going to get that far on a skateboard?
