Alleged Police Brutality Victim Caught on Tape Punching Himself in the Face

A video was released Tuesday, showing footage of a jailed California man punching himself in the face repeatedly. The man, who was arrested in January on charges of stalking and sexual abuse, had previously accused Oregon police of giving him two black eyes. The footage allegedly confirms that he gave himself the bruises.

Lane County officials in Oregon said 33-year-old Aleksander Robin Tomaszewski filed an assault complaint against detectives shortly after being imprisoned. He was unaware that a video recorder was running in the holding cell he’d been staying after being questioned, AP reports.

According to the Oregonian, Tomaszewski told detectives he hoped filing a complaint would get him released after being confronted with the footage.

Since being brought in on separate charges, the Lucerne, Calif. man was charged and found guilty last week of initiating a false report and attempted coercion. He was fined $500 and sentenced to 20 days in jail.
