The cast for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire just keeps on growing as Lionsgate fills another role for the next installment of the blockbuster franchise. Pulp Fiction actress Amanda Plummer has been cast as Wiress, according to a press release put out by the production company.
Huffington Post explains “Wiress is a female tribute from District 3 who won an unspecified Hunger Games. She gets thrown back into the arena during the Quarter Quell, where [_] she must fight to survive. Inside the arena, Wiress earns the nickname ‘Nuts,’ because of her batty demeanor and lack of communication skills.”
Plummer’s casting announcement comes shortly after that of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s for the role of head gamemaker. The two are joining a cast that already includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Lenny Kravitz.
Although Plummer is best known for her role in Pulp Fiction she has also been in other films such as So I Married an Axe Murderer, The Fisher King, and Agnes of God, for which she won a Tony Award in 1982.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will go into production in September and will be released worldwide on November 22, 2013.
