The third time’s the charm for Annie Lennox.
The Eurythmics singer got married Saturday in London, People reports. This will be her third marriage. Her previous two marriages were with German Hare Krishna devotee Radha Raman from 1984 to 1985 and later with Israeli film and record producer Uri Fruchtmann from 1988 to 2000.
Lennox, 57, tied the knot with Dr. Mitch Besser, 57, a Harvard-educated gynecologist and founder of mothers2mothers, an organization that is based in Africa and aims to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV, keep mothers healthy, and empower women.
Lennox is known to be a committed activist for HIV awareness, and met Besser while fundraising for one of his charities.
The private wedding ceremony reportedly took place on a boat on the Thames River and had Colin Firth and comedienne Ruby Wax as guests. Mail Online reports Lennox’s two daughters, Lola, 22, and Tali, 19 served as her bridesmaids.
As for the dress, the bride is said to have worn a distinctive, white, floor-length gown, as well as a lace bolero shrug and a 1920s style headpiece. The groom also dressed modestly with a simple grey suit and pastel-coloured tie.
Lennox confirmed the marriage with a tweet on Sunday with a snap shot of her wedding flowers and a caption that read, “Wedding flowers 15th September 2012.”
Here’s hoping sweet dreams will be made of this third marriage for the newly-weds (Sorry, we had to).
