Army Captain in Captain America T-Shirt Rescues Car Crash Victims

Army Captain Steve Voglezon from Fort Bragg was off duty visiting his girlfriend in North Carolina when police say he came upon an accident where two cars had collided. The vehicles were engulfed in flames with people trapped inside, so Captain Vogelzon jumped into action.

Using a fire extinguisher, Captain Vogelzon broke multiple car windows in order to rescue William and Kathleen Thompson, both in their sixties. Others can be seen in the video jumping to the captain’s aid as well.

“If I had not been a soldier, I wouldn’t know what to do,” he said when interviewed on Good Morning America. “The Army has helped a lot.”

The story itself is impressive — as many of us wouldn’t know what to do in that kind of situation — but what has gained Voglezon such notoriety was that he happened to be wearing a t-shirt featuring the fictional hero, Captain America.

“I was just at the right place at the right time,” he said. “We all bonded together to help save people’s lives.”

All three people involved in the crash are currently hospitalized. Police say the accident was caused after another vehicle crossed the median and crashed into the Thompsons’ car.

At the top of this post is a general report. In the body of the article is a second report from ABC News showing much more of the footage, and why many people are calling him a real Captain America.
