Timothy Eli Thompson was born last month in Foley, Alabama. When is mother saw him for the first time, she quickly noticed that he didn’t have a nose.
“I pulled back and said, ‘Something’s wrong!” she explained to AL.com. “And the doctor said, ‘No, he’s perfectly fine.’ Then I shouted, ‘He Doesn’t have a nose!”
In order to assure he could breathe, Eli was given a tracheotomy.
The diagnosis was clear, he is one of 28 people since 1931 to have complete arhinia.
At first, Eli revealed that he didn’t feel quite right in his body, but now he’s a happy baby boy ready to live life at home.
In the coming years, Eli will have to undergo many surgeries. This is one reason his story is being shared around the world. More than 20,000 people have already joined his Facebook page and more than $10,000 has been raised thus far to help his progress.
