Soccer Player Dies After Attempting Celebratory Backflip on Field

After celebrating his goal against Chanmari West FC, Peter Biaksangzuala damaged his spinal cord trying to attempt a backflip on the field.

Biaksangzuala, 23, was playing for Bethlehem Vengthlang FC in India’s Mizoram Premier League when the celebration took an ugly turn in the 62nd minute of the game. During his acrobatic stunt, he landed on his head.

Teammates immediately came to his aid and he was taken to the hospital.

After spending five days in intensive care, he was unable to recover from the damage done to his spinal cord. Early Sunday morning, he was pronounced dead.

A source said, “He was trying to do Germany’s Klose signature flip stunt, but it misfired unfortunately.”
