Get ready for more of the energetic Bear Grylls. The British adventurer is returning to U.S. television in a new NBC show, Get Out Alive.
Grylls, who previously hosted Man Vs. Wild on the Discovery channel but was let go last year, is already signed up for eight episodes of NBC’s new extreme competition show, which is based off a similar model as Survivor. He is also co-producing the show with Ben Silverman’s Electus.
Grylls said about the show: “Get Out Alive will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just save your life. The goal is to empower people with the ultimate in both survival and teamwork, and that brings incredible reward… but first there must be some pain.”
NBC’s alternative president said in a statement “”To meet Bear is to meet a force of nature. He is a magnetic and charismatic talent, whose infectious enthusiasm for adventure inspires people to push themselves beyond their limits. These contestants are in for the ride of their lives!”
Aside from his previous Discovery Channel show, Grylls has also written several survival guides and currently holds various endorsement deals for brands such as Dockers and Degree deodorant. Additonally, he has three years expereince with the Special Air Service, a special forces unit of the British army.
