Let’s get this out of the way — 3D pencil drawings aren’t actually three-dimensional. They only look it.
The artists who practice this awesome and often deceptive form of art simply use surrounding objects, separate sheets of paper, and forced perspective to make their well-shaded illustrations come to life.
The best 3D pencil drawings are just plain mind-boggling. The more we stare at them, the more we can’t help but see the drawings coming off the page to interact with their surroundings.
The medium is oddly simple too, using only pencil and paper to create the illustrations, but it takes some time to master, as most 3D artists will tell you, but it is something you can try to master, given the right online tutorial and a lot of dedication and patience.
For those of us too lazy or unimaginative to create such art, we can always scroll through slideshows on the internet and sadly weep over how terrible we are at art.
