A gun maker named Ben “Mookie” Thomas lives in Florida. He’s recently raised eyebrows for putting a Bible verse on assault rifles to prevent “Muslim terrorists” from using it to kill Americans. This, Thomas believes, is the ultimate goal of most Muslims — to kill Christian Americans.
Thomas is an ex-Navy SEAL and spokesman for the gun manufacturer Spike’s Tactical. He recently explained to the Orlando Sentinel that he was inspired to make a gun that no Muslim would touch:
“Off the cuff I said I’d like to have a gun that if a Muslim terrorist picked it up a bolt of lightning would hit and knock him dead.”
The AR-15 rifle is named the “Crusader” and Thomas is not kidding when he says he believes any Muslim who touches it will get hit and killed by lightning. The gun features an emblem of a cross inside a shield, and it was purposely produced to look like the rifles used by the Knights Templar during the Christian Crusades. On the other side of the rifle, there is text from Psalm 144:1, which reads:
“Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.”
The rifle has three settings: “Peace” for safe, “War” for semi-automatic, and “God wills it” for full-on blazing. The gun is being sold for $1,395!
Thomas, who truly believes that Muslims are threatening America and most of the world, says his Crusader rifle symbolizes Christian values and the right to defend oneself against extremists.
“Right now and for quite some time, one of the biggest threats in the world is and remains Islamic terrorism,” Thomas says. “We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda.”
Thomas seems to forget that just this year, there have been over 250 mass killings in America, according to the Florida chapter of the Council for Islamic Relations, and only one of the criminals was Muslim.
Islamophobia seems to be the latest trend for gun enthusiasts in Florida, Earlier this summer, a gun store declared itself a “Muslim-free zone.” And while biblical guns are nothing new, this one is getting a lot of attention.
What do you think about all this? Is he right or is he a nutty racist? We want to hear from you below.
