Boy Tells Classmates Santa Doesn’t Exist, His Mom Gets Sued

When one little boy from southern California shared his shocking discovery that Santa Claus doesn’t exist with his classmates, things got strange. His mother’s story has gone viral after she was threatened with a lawsuit from the other parents in her son’s school.

“Today via courier (not the mail), I received a rather threatening letter from a well-known, local, elite law firm threatening suit due to emotional damage, flagrant disregard to parental rights, and facilitating the loss of innocence of child wonderment. Yeah, seriously.” This was a post the mom wrote on Reddit.

The letter also demanded that she pay for a “fully interactive Santa Experience” for the eight children who had been “traumatised.” This experience includes gifts for all the children. Plus, the little boy must stay away from the others at all times.

A single mom, the little boy’s mother doesn’t have the money to hire a lawyer but ever since she posted her story on Reddit she’s gotten offers from high profile lawyers for assistance.

Pauline Haycraft, a childcare expert and former childcare center owner and director, says the lawsuit wielding mothers have done “far more damage to the magic than the little boy. As a parent all you need to say is “Okay, that’s what they believe in their house but in our house we believe in the magic of Christmas. I would suspect that these kids don’t believe at all now because mommy has gone berserk – every child should be entitled to talk about what they believe in. What are these mothers going to do when a child stands up and says God isn’t real? Hire a God-like figure to “de-traumatise” them?’

It turns out that the law firm that actually had the gumption to create a legal case out of this situation is related to one of the children in her boy’s class. Not surprising, right?

We’ll be sure to tell you how the story goes down in the end when it’s all settled, but in the meantime we want to hear from you. What do you think about this story? Is the little boy in the wrong? Is it his mother’s fault at all? Let us know your opinion below.
