Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak just held a press conference regarding Malaysian Airlines Flight 370. He stated that new satellite data reveals that the plane “ended” its journey in a remote part of the southern Indian Ocean. The top video from Bloomberg News gives the rundown, while the AP video below that shows the unedited news feed footage where Razak makes the announcement.
“This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites. It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean,” the Prime Minister said during the meeting.
The jet containing 289 people vanished on March 8 after taking off from Kuala Lampur bound for Beijing. In his statement, Razak said that Malaysia Airlines had already been in touch with the families of the passengers on board.
This comes following hopeful reports of satellite footage showing debris in the ocean. More info as the story develops.
