This Breathtakingly Beautiful $330,000 Watch Tracks All the Planets in Real Time

Whether you still sport a wrist watch or rely on your phone to help keep track of time, you won’t deny the beauty and appeal of Van Cleef & Arpels’ new luxury watch, the Midnight Planétarium.

Described as a “love letter to ancient astronomy,” this $300,000 luxury item tracks the rotation of each of the six planets visible from Earth in real time. Each celestial body is represented in this beautiful time piece as a different stone: Earth is turquoise, Mars is red jasper, Venus is made of chloromelanite, Mercury is serpentine, blue agate is used for Jupiter and Saturn is sugilite. There’s also a sun made of pink gold.

The owner can see where each planet is at any given time, with all of them “orbiting” around the dial in the same amount of time it takes them to orbit around the sun in real life.

This means the rock representing Earth takes 365 days to make it around, Jupiter takes almost 12 years and so on.

And if you’re wondering, yes it does function as a regular watch as well. You can tell the time by looking at the pink gold shooting star located at the outer edge of the dial. You can also set the date, month and year and designate a special day as your lucky day, if you’re into that kind of stuff.
