Britney Spears Shocked After Her Ex Boyfriend Was Killed by Taliban

According to the Daily Mail, Britney Spears’ former boyfriend, John Sundahl, was tragically killed last week in Afghanistan by Taliban armed forces.

The 44-year-old was working as a pilot overseas, escorting foreign public figures in and out of the war-torn country. While in the air, a Taliban missile reportedly made contact with his helicopter near Kabul.

Spars and Sundahl met each other back in 2007 during an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. This was around the time that the pop star was suffering from substance abuse and her extremely public breakdown. They dated for a few months before going their separate ways, although they did remain close friends.

“She is devastated,” a source told the Daily Mirror. “Britney thought he was a lovely man.”

Here’s a statement released by Sundahl’s brother, Karl:

John was on a journey from Kabul when he was shot at and killed. We were told by the State that John had died, they told us the Taliban did it. This is just awful. My family are heartbroken, my parents are elderly so this is very tough for them, and all of us. We know Britney’s upset too. John was still good friends with Britney, he talked to her regularly. They dated for a while but always kept in touch afterwards.

At this time, Spears has not released an official comment on his death.

Sundahl’s body was flown back to the US and was buried last week in Los Angeles.
