You Can Bet This Guy Was Doing More Than Pencil Fighting in Class

While the rest of us killed time in class by pencil fighting, you can bet artist Dalton Ghetti was somewhere in the corner discovering how to turn those fill-in-the-bubble instruments into works of art.

Ghetti was formally trained as an architect, but his most remarkable creations are probably this series of sculptures made out of wooden pencils.

Using a pencil’s graphite and clay core and cedar housing, he meticulously chisels out intricate designs from what many people just see as an outdated writing utensil, such as a boot, chain-linked heart, and the even entire alphabet.
