Imagine a quiet night at home bookended by sport utility vehicle crashing through your roof and ceiling, destroying your own vehicle in the most unlucky of car accidents ever.
An SUV went airborne and plunged through the roof of a home in Escondido, Calif. near San Diego a little before 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Associated Press reports the residents were unscathed by the crash, but homeowner George Strother says the car landed in his garage on the hood of his Nissan Pathfinder, knocking the ceiling down onto another car.
According to police, the driver of the SUV, a BMW, lost control during a turn and drove off the road, falling through the roof of Strother’s home, which sits 20 feet beneath the roadway.
The driver of the BMW, which was a loaner from a dealership, fled the scene of the accident on foot. Police say it appears he wasn’t injured either.
