Typically, we prefer to take our whiskey neat or not at all. But when National Whiskey Sour Day comes along (Tuesday, August 25), we find ourselves opting to indulge in a little something different.
The simple, yet sophisticated whiskey sour has been around for a really long time, dating back to over a century ago. While there have been endless variations of the recipe through the ages, Basil Hayden’s offers a pretty damn delightful one.
Using its mild 80 proof, full-bodied rye bourbon, the Basil Hayden’s Maple Sour is the ideal way to show your respect for the whiskey sour.
The peppery, smoky flavors of this bourbon, combined with a hint of honey sweetness, make this cocktail absolutely delicious. If you needed a reason to appreciate whiskey, this is it.
So, in honor of National Whiskey Sour Day, try this classic cocktail Basil Hayden’s style.
