Chile Earthquake Photos
According to initial reports, powerful 8.0-magnitude earthquake hit off Chile’s Pacific coast, on April 1, 2014 in Iquique; however, some news agencies are reporting it as being an 8.2 magnitude quake. A tsunami warning has been issued for Chile, Peru and Ecuador, US officials said. The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers (six miles), 83 kilometers from Iquique on Chile’s northern coast, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

UPDATE: Authorities have lifted the tsunami warnings for Chile’s long coastline early Wednesday after the earthquake struck the South American nation’s northern coast. Currently, authorities are saying that six people were crushed to death or suffered fatal heart attacks during the incident. However, searches are continuing and there’s a chance that this number will rise.
