Meet the Hero of the Oregon College Shooting

Yesterday during normal school hours at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College, Chris Harper Mercer opened fire killing 10 people and injuring many more. As he went from classroom to classroom numerous people say he was targeting Christians. According to Anastasia Boylan the gunman entered the classroom she was in and shot the teacher. Immediately everyone ducked for cover.

The shooter asked all the Christians in the room to stand up, to which they did. Anastaisa told CNN that he then said “’Good, because you’re a Christian, you’re going to see God in just about one second.’”

While many stood for their religion, there was one man who stood for his class by standing right in front of the shooter himself – blocking him from entering the college classroom he was in.

According to FOX 13, Chris Mintz, a 30-year-old army veteran, told the shooter “you’re not getting by me.” To that the gunman shot him five times, but he did not enter that classroom. After serving in the military for 10 years, Chris was shot by a man on a college campus. While he is currently in the hospital, he is expected to live because all the bullets missed all his vital organs.

The shooter, Chris Harper Mercer, was killed after being shot by police. Already a hero for serving in the military, Chris Mintz is once again a hero to even more.
