On Friday, a man is Chile was critically injured after stepping into an out of control elevator on the first floor of a building at Bustamante Community Park in Providencia.
Shortly after José Vergara Acevedo got into the lift, the elevator car began ascending very rapidly before the doors even had a chance to close, and didn’t stop until crashing into the building’s roof.
The surveillance video shows the event as it unfolds, where you can see Acevedo nervously pushing buttons on the control panel in an effort to stop the elevator from rising. Then, the footage cuts out.
According to Emol Chile, he suffered head and leg injuries.
