It is a video that has been traveling through the online world making thousands everywhere cry. It is a video that captured a moment where one student basketball player stood out among dozens for his act of kindness – and it is a video that captured a moment that touched one mother so much that she said “I think I’ll cry about it for the rest of my life.”
According to NBC, Mitchell Marcus the manager for the Coronado High School Thunderbirds basketball team has a developmental disability, but that does not affect his love for the game. In honor of Mitchell and his true passion for playing basketball, Coach Peter Morales decided to do something that would forever impact his team manager during the last game of the season.
Mitchell was told to put on his jersey and get in the game with a minute and a half left on the clock and the crowd chanting his name. His fellow teammates continuously tried to pass their team manager the ball so he could score a basket, however each time he missed.
As the clock kept ticking, time was running out and the other team now had the ball. Player number 22 from the opposing team decided to so something that would forever shock the crowd, he threw the ball to Mitchell instead of his teammates, allowing him to score the last basket of the game.
