A Japanese “creative” lab called PARTY, located in both New York and Tokyo, is holding an exhibit called “OMOTEe 3D SHASHIN KAN” that runs from November 24th to January 15. The cost of attending the exhibit is between $260 and $500, or about 21,000 and 40,000 yen per person. Needless to say, that’s a lot of money.
What’s so special about this nearly sold-out event?
The guests get their pictures converted into 10 to 20 cm figurines that are mailed to them roughly a month later. The first question for you is this: Creepy or cool?
Their website states, “At PARTY, we focus on both ‘Human Insights’ and ‘Technical Insights,’ in order to inject ‘new stories crafted by new technologies’ into product, service, space, and various other entertainments.”
Although creative, the other questions we wondered about is whether the figurines actually have a purpose? Do they just tell a story? Do you make a dollhouse with them or display them in front of the fireplace mantel? Again– creepy or cool?
Watch the video below to see how they’re made, then let us know what you think.
