D.A.R.E. Lion Drug Bust — Man Tries to Hide Stash in Anti-Drug Mascot

You’ve got to be kidding! A 22-year-old man named Gregory Bolognese was arrested on narcotics charges by New York State Police after his giant stash of drugs was discovered in an extremely unlikely place—a stuffed toy lion, according to reports.

Not just an ordinary stuffed lion toy — This was “Daren” the D.A.R.E. mascot. The lion mascot, photographed for evidence, has the logo on his shirt accompanied with the D.A.R.E. slogan—“To Resist Drugs And Violence.”

Bolognese was arrested at a Greyhound bus station, although there are no details on how the cops were tipped off about the stashed drugs.

The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program seeks to dissuade the youth population from drug use and abuse, and to educate kids about the danger of gangs, narcotics, and violence.

Hidden within the stuffed animal, police found marijuana, cocaine, and LSD. Bolognese faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession. He is currently being held by authorities, and is scheduled for a court hearing.
