A dad recently tried to use the footage he found of his son’s mom verbally and possibly physically abusing their son after he and his half-brother spilled milk, in an attempt to get a restraining order to protect his child.
He was not granted the restraining order however, and took to YouTube to get attention. In his own words, he describes the situations as follows:
I found this video on my son’s iPad that was obviously recorded by his mother. I apologize for the horrible singing, but watch and listen after the 1 minute mark. You will hear her smacking my son and her other son, and the God awful things she screams at my poor son. My son watched this with me and he was terrified his mother would find out I watched this and that he would be hit again. He said she hits him when she is mad. Nobody’s kid deserves this. I took this to court today, and once again our wonderful Kitsap County judges did NOTHING. They basically told me too bad. If this was a female complaining about the father, the father would be arrested. I am so so so so sad for my son. Please watch this and share this. I want this to go viral. I want the news sources to find out about this. I want to change the discrimination against men in Kitsap County. We are supposed to be equal, but if you are the man and you have a concern for your child, good luck getting them to do anything about it!
What’s of note to us in this video is the fact the mom is recording herself singing along to Carrie Underwood’s single “Blown Away,” a song about an alcoholic, abusive father who gets taken out by a violent tornado and the singer relishes in what she calls a “sweet revenge” against the dad character. Further, when the mother in the video walks off the camera and is yelling at her kids, she’s lamenting the fact that she’s a single mother and seems to be taking it out on the children.
This story has recently gone viral, with people’s opinion split, according to helloU. Some viewers call this emotional abuse and think her actions are indeed harmful, while others are more sympathetic saying she’s just a fed up single parent and her actions are relatable.
Watch the video above and decide for yourself.
