WATCH: Men Descend Into Active Volcano, Experience Lava Lake up Close

More people have visited the moon than have this stunning volcano, a deadly, inaccessible crater of flowing molten lava that should scare off most sane individuals.

The task didn’t scare off Sam Cossman and George Kourounis, however, who were guided into the volcano called Marum Crater by two volcanic experts, Geoff Mackely and Brad Ambrose. The four of them became some of the first brave souls to set foot inside Marum Crater, one of the most dangerous and out-of-the-way volcanoes on Earth.

And they documented the stunning experience for all of us scaredy cats to watch on our computers.

The volcano is located on the remote volcanic island of Ambrym in Malampa Province in the archipelago of Vanuatu. It’s uniquely prone to creating lava lakes, such as the one seen in the above video. Watch it to see the stunning power of the volcano and the Earth on display.
