Billboards and trailers can only go so far to promote a movie. These days, you have to really think outside the box when it comes to raising interest in an upcoming film. Enter Thinkmodo.
The viral video marketing agency rigged a coffee shop in Manhattan last year and staged a meltdown of a woman who appeared to have telekinetic abilities, and scared the pants off the café’s patrons. It was all a part of promoting the release of the “Carrie” remake, a classic horror film.
Well the folks behind that prank are at it again. This time, the movie they’re pushing for is “Devil’s Due,” which opens this weekend. As for the prank, it involves an abandoned stroller, a few good Samaritans, and an evil animatronic baby that looks like it came straight out of hell. It also throws up. Gross.
After the prank was complete, Thinkmodo founder Michael Krivicka told Yahoo Movies, “people were totally cool with being in the video after getting the living hell scared out of them. Each reaction ended with a laugh, and everyone loved the look of the baby.”
