A 22-year-old fugitive in Boise, Idaho, was caught and arrested after months on the run, all thanks to one post on Facebook. Joey John Patterson has spent the last several months eluding authorities on a felony warrant for violating his probation, KTVB-TV reported.
The long chase came to an end over the weekend when he updated his Facebook status inviting friends to join him for batting practice at Armory Softball Field.
Caldwell police, who had been monitoring his social media activity, arrived at the field and arrested him.
Caldwell Police Sgt. Joey Hoadley said it’s actually a pretty common way to track fugitives.
“We keep a close eye on that stuff,” said Hoadley. “Surprisingly, even fugitives can’t keep from updating their Facebook status, and it leads to some great arrests.”
The felony warrant was issued for Patterson after he violated his probation in a Twin Falls fraud case. He is being held in a county jail without bond.
