On November 13, Eagles of Death Metal took the stage at the Bataclan concert hall, thrilled to put on a phenomenal show for their fans. They could have never imagined what was about to unfold next.
When gunmen opened fire on the crowd inside the theatre it was an absolute bloodbath — 89 people were killed.
In an exclusive interview with VICE, the band opens up for the first time about horrific night, and released some new details surrounding what happened.
Lead singer Jesse Hughes explains how some fans tried to hide inside their dressing room.
“The killers were able to get in, and killed every one of them, except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket,” he said. “People were playing dead, and they were so scared,” he said, adding that one reason so many died was because they wouldn’t leave their friends. So many people put themselves in front of people.”
