Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria is coming back to prime-time in a much different light than you’ve ever seen her before.
The actress will be the voice of a character for a new animated comedy on Canadian broadcaster, City, and Hulu. The series is titled Mother Up! And follows Rudi Wilson, a former music exec turned hopeless suburban mom, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“She’s a crazy, irresponsible mother, that all mothers fear they are,” Longoria says about her character. “She barely keeps her kids alive with bizarre, improvised solutions to the endless challenges of parenting.”
Claire Freeland, director of original programming at City-parent Rogers Media adds “It is without a doubt an irreverent and edgy series, and yet still a network friendly show.”
It’s also male friendly, as Freeland said the show will appeal to both a male and female demographic, despite the main motherhood storyline.
Mother Up! was created by Michael Shipley with Greg Lawrence serving as the showrunner. Others starring on the show include Jesse Camacho as Dick, Gabrielle Miller as Sarah, Cle Bennett as 2Bit, Helen Taylor as Jenny, Scott McCord as Greg and Rebecca Husain as Apple.
The show will debut Fall of 2013.
