A Brazilian man has recently undergone a series of extreme body modification surgeries with the goal of making himself look like the comic book villain Red Skull, recently played by Hugo Weaving in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger.
Henry Damon, a 37-year-old husband and father living in Caracas, Venezuela, most recently had part of his nose chopped off to ease his transformation before. He had already had subdermal implants placed beneath his forehead and his eyes tattooed black. He now prefers to be called Red Skull, the Daily Mail reports.
The Red Skull character first appeared in a 1947 issue of Captain America as Cap’s arch-enemy and a Nazi agent.
“He has loved comic books since he was a kid and always dreamed of being Red Skull, but never got round to doing it,” said Damon’s friend Pablo Hernandez.
Damon saw the opportunity to fulfill his long-held dream when he met med-school dropout Emilio Gonzalez, who specializes in tattooing and extreme surgery. Before proceeding, Gonzalez subjected Damon to a series of physical and psychological tests to ensure his health.
“He’s an excellent son, husband and father, who has an extreme taste for body modification,” Gonzalez said. “Most of my customers know that body modification is the last step of body art, everyone knows very well what they want and as well as Henry, many of them are waiting for me for many years to make their dreams a reality.”
The transformation, Gonzalez noted, is not complete yet. He plans to proceed with silicone implants in Damon’s cheeks and chin before finally tattooing his entire face red.
